Our team was responsible for the social media strategy and implementation of The 99% Power Coalition. We engaged in daily narrative-building updates over 8 weeks, brought together dozens of partners with a shared narrative, and quickly scaled up to over 2,000 Facebook & Twitter followers.
More than just keeping busy on Twitter, we dove headfirst into a number of innovative tactics. We launched a unifying hashtag (#99Power), created viral Facebook memes, hosted interactive online chats, and organized a volunteer team which reached out to Bank of America customers as well as Sallie Mae debtors on Twitter. As pictured above, we also launched a special day of virtual action for Walmart's annual shareholder meeting--inviting people to shout-out their favorite local businesses.
